Professor James Acken, Ph.D., is both a professional illustrator with a focus on design as well as a trained medievalist with a focus on early poetic culture in Northern Europe. He brings more than seven years’ experience researching and teaching mythology, history and related subjects at the university level. The combination of his academic background with his artistry provides him with the ability to produce images that are deeply informed by myth and long-established traditions of storytelling.

When he's not in the studio with pen in hand, he's out travelling the world with his family, ever in search of inspiration.
